The AHIP Foundation seeks to build on the managed care industry’s dedication to innovation and advances in care delivery. The Foundation strives to create, support, and enhance programs in managed care organizations which will improve quality, effectiveness, and value in health care through research, education, information sharing, and other activities which strengthen and reward exemplary practices by individuals and organizations. AHIP helps to bring about deep and abiding improvements in the health care system by ensuring that the best health care practices are understood and disseminated to a wide audience.
The Foundation’s goals are to:
Change and improve delivery systems Increase the effectiveness of treatment systems for the chronically ill
Support the development and use of effective practices Increase the application of evidence-based medicine
Provide substantive performance measures and quality improvement Increase the industry’s ability to serve diverse populations Aid in the training and development of minority health plan managers Develop and support of programs targeted toward minority populations Build community partnerships between plans and other stakeholders Provide information which will empower patients to participate in their own care and choose the most effective means of treatment
The Foundation’s Programs include:
Executive Leadership Program (ELP)/ELP-MD
Prepare the industry’s most promising leaders for success in a dynamic health care environment. Senior health plan administrators and medical directors participate in a program which combines academic and experiential learning that equip Fellows to be effective instruments of change.
Minority Management Development (MMD) Program
MMD is an innovative fellowship for minority individuals interested in pursuing a career in health plan management. The program provides Fellows with managed care experience, and practical educational work. Fellows work closely with a Preceptor, who serves as a mentor during the fellowship year and beyond.
